Hindustan Construction Company (HCC), one of the India's leading infrastructure companies, said Tuesday the company in joint venture with Coastal Projects (CPL) secured a Rs 7.85 billion contract from Northeast Frontier Railway.

The contract is for developing a 9.5 km tunnel between Tupul-Imphal for New Railway Line Project from Jiribam-Tupul. The company's share in the total value of the contract is 60% i.e. Rs 4.71 billion. The project will be completed in 40 months.

Arun Karambelkar, president & CEO-E&C, HCC, said, ''HCC is proud to receive the fourth order from Northeast Frontier Railway. It is testament to the confidence enjoyed by the company is successfully executing complex tunnelling work. HCC with tis sound engineering expertise and committed team is all set to leverage the opportunities in the infrastructure space.''

Shares of the company declined Rs 0.6, or 2.47%, to trade at Rs 23.65. The total volume of shares traded was 1,040,973 at the BSE (3.34 p.m., Tuesday).
