Indian equities continued to trade on a flat note amid volatility on Thursday.The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened flat with a rise of 22.94 points or 0.04% at 58,363.93, while the broad based NSE Nifty began flat with a gain of 2.25 points or 0.01%, at 17,417.30.
At 9.53 a.m., the Sensex was trading down 147.83 points or 0.25% at 58,193.16 with 9 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 88.30 points or 0.50% at 17,419.45 with 31 components gaining.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Reliance Industries (2.34%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (0.70%), Infosys (0.49%), Sun Pharma (0.33%) and Mahindra & Mahindra (0.30%).
On the other hand, IndusInd Bank (1.76%), ICICI Bank (1.66%), HUL (0.98%), Larsen & Toubro (0.90%), Axis Bank (0.89%), HDFC (0.82%) and NTPC (0.78%) were the major losers in the Sensex. Market breadth was positive with 1,714 advances against 1,239 declines.
