Indian equities continued to rise for the fourth day on Tuesday. Both Sensex and Nifty were trading above 1-month high. At 9.43 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 78.29 points or 0.25% at 31,960.45 with 19 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 32.80 points or 0.33% at 10,038.85 with 30 components gaining.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Steel (4.05%), Tata Power Company (1.49%), Asian Paints (1.06%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (0.73%), GAIL (India) (0.68%), and Larsen & Toubro (0.65%).
On the other hand, Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (1.08%), Coal India (1.07%), Cipla (1.06%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.80%), NTPC (0.53%), and Bharti Airtel (0.42%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 1,027 advances against 547 declines.
Indiabulls Housing Finance topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 262.87 million. It was followed by Spicejet (Rs. 234.86 million), Tata Steel (Rs. 169.24 million) and R*Shares Liquid BeES (Rs. 161.36 million).
The volume chart was led by Lanco Infratech with trades of over 2.08 million shares. It was followed by Jaiprakash Associates (1.88 million), Spicejet (1.63 million) and Himachal Futuristic Communications (1.27 million).
