Domestic airlines passenger traffic up 20.34% in 2015; IndiGo tops market share chart

Passengers carried by domestic airlines during calendar year 2015 were 81.09 million as against 67.38 million during the previous year, thereby registering a growth of 20.34%.

IndiGo was number one airline with market share of 36.7% in 2015, followed by Jet Airways & Jet Lite combined (22.5%), Air India (16.4%), SpiceJet (11.6%) GoAir (8.5%) Air Asia (1.7%) and Vistara (1.3%). Meanwhile, Air Costa, Air Pegasus and TruJet held less than 1% market share.

IndiGo has carried 29.74 million passengers during 2015. Jet Airways and Jet Lite have carried 18.22 million passengers while Air India carried 13.33 million passengers.

Meanwhile, SpiceJet and GoAir carried 9.42 million passengers and 6.93 million passengers during 2015. Air Asia and Vistara carried 1.41 million passengers and 1.07 million passengers.

Air Costa carried 7.3 lakhs passengers while Air Pegasus and TruJet carried over 1 lakh passengers in 2015.
