CPI inflation jumps to five-month high in Aug'17

Consumer price inflation in India, as represented by Consumer Price Index (CPI), gained to 3.36% in August from 2.36% in the previous month. In August 2016, CPI inflation was at 5.05%.

Consumer Food Price Index (CFPI) 1.52% from 0.99% lower in the previous month. In August 2016, CFPI inflation was at 5.91%.

Food and beverages price inflation stood at 1.96%, while prices of pan, tobacco and intoxicants went up 6.85%.

Clothing and footwear price inflation has recorded a rise of 4.58% in prices.

Fuel and light inflation has seen increase of 4.94%. Household goods and services inflation was 4.24%.

Health segment inflation was 4.33%. Transport and communication gained in inflation of 3.71%.

Education segment recorded inflation of 4.40%. Personal care and effects segment inflation was 2.55%.
