The government has dispatched 25.23 million tons (provl.) of coal to power sector during September, 2008.
During the month of September, 2008, the actual coal produced by Coal India (CIL) and Singareni Collieries Company (SCCL) was 31.34 million tons (provl.) as against the AAP target of 32.193 million tons. The actual coal production of CIL and SCCL during the September, 2007 was 28.90 million tons. There was a growth of 8.4% over the corresponding month of previous year.

Allocation of Coal Blocks
Two captive coal block viz. Datima coal block was allocated to Binani Cement on Sep. 5, 2008 and Tenughat-Jhirki coal block was allocated to Rashtriya Ispat Nigam on Sep. 10, 2008 under the Screening Committee route.
