Indian markets continued to drop on Wednesday. The Sensex was trading down 99.87 points or 0.39% at 25,596.57 with 21 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 37.50 points or 0.48% at 7,748.35 with 34 components falling.
Bharat Heavy Electricals (3.49%), Mahindra & Mahindra (3.42%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (2.75%), Axis Bank (2.53%), NTPC (2.50%), and State Bank Of India (2.40%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
On the other hand, biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Consultancy Services (2.86%), Tata Steel (2.34%), Infosys (1.61%), ITC (1.38%), Reliance Industries (1.29%), and GAIL (India) (0.90%).
The Power index was at 1,768.91, down by 84.34 points or by 4.55%. The Capital Goods index was at 15,591.92, down by 701.63 points or by 4.31%. The Consumer Durables index was at 10,673.11, down by 471.29 points or by 4.23%.
Market breadth was negative with 1,152 advances against 1,166 declines.
