Indian markets continued to rise for the third day on Thursday. At 9.40 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 87.30 points or 0.24% at 36,408.59 with 17 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 23.05 points or 0.21% at 10,913.35 with 32 components gaining.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Mahindra & Mahindra (1.70%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.10%), Power Grid Corporation Of India (0.94%), Reliance Industries (0.82%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.72%), and Maruti Suzuki India (0.60%).
On the other hand, Bharti Airtel (0.64%), Infosys (0.39%), Bajaj Auto (0.35%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.33%), Hindustan Unilever (0.31%), and ITC (0.27%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 704 advances against 497 declines.
Alstone Textiles (India) topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 0.00 million. It was followed by Housing Development Finance Corporation (Rs. 159.43 million), HDFC Bank (Rs. 84.79 million) and Graphite India (Rs. 83.37 million).
The volume chart was led by Indo Rama Synthetics (India) with trades of over 0.82 million shares. It was followed by Vakrangee (0.67 million), RMG Alloy Steel (0.31 million) and Dolat Investments (0.20 million).
