Indian markets ended flat on Friday. At the close, the 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex ended flat with a rise of 12.53 points or 0.03% at 36,386.61, 10 components posting rise. while the broad based NSE Nifty closed flat with a gain of 1.75 points or 0.02%, at 10,906.95.14 components registering rise.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Reliance Industries (4.34%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (1.41%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.23%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.79%), and Asian Paints (0.68%).
On the other hand, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (8.52%), Bharti Airtel (6.42%), Larsen & Toubro (2.07%), Axis Bank (1.77%), ITC (0.95%), and Tata Motors (0.92%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 803 advances against 1,461 declines.
Reliance Industries topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 2,139.61 million. It was followed by Piramal Enterprises (Rs. 417.73 million), Hindustan Unilever (Rs. 337.59 million) and Tata Steel (Rs. 196.64 million).
The volume chart was led by Reliance Industries with trades of over 1.81 million shares. It was followed by Hindustan Construction Company (1.48 million), Ashok Leyland (1.11 million) and Jain Irrigation Systems (0.77 million).
