Indian markets ended flat on Monday snapping earlier losses. Both Sensex and Nifty traded above 2-month high. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex added 35.19 or 0.10% at 34,450.77 with 12 components posting rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty went up by 20.65 or 0.20% at 10,584.70 with 25 components registering rise.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Mahindra & Mahindra (2.74%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.74%), Asian Paints (1.72%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.05%), and Kotak Mahindra Bank (1.03%).
On the other hand, HDFC Bank (1.42%), Coal India (0.98%), Hero Motocorp (0.93%), Wipro (0.92%), ICICI Bank (0.85%), and Tata Motors (0.82%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,275 advances against 1,192 declines.
Tata Consultancy Services topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 1,727.39 million. It was followed by Minda Corporation (Rs. 792.91 million), State Bank Of India (Rs. 631.89 million) and Ajanta Pharma (Rs. 558.30 million).
The volume chart was led by Reliance Communications with trades of over 4.84 million shares. It was followed by Minda Corporation (3.95 million), State Bank Of India (2.60 million) and Shree Digvijay Cement Company (2.56 million).
