Indian equities ended flat on Friday. At the close, the 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex ended flat with a decline of 11.71 points or 0.03% at 34,415.58, 19 components registering drop. while the broad based NSE Nifty closed flat with a decline of 1.25 points or 0.01%, at 10,564.05.37 components posting drop.
Biggest losers in the 30-share index were ICICI Bank (2.49%), Tata Steel (2.29%), State Bank Of India (1.97%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.76%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.67%), and NTPC (1.66%).
On the other hand, Tata Consultancy Services (6.76%), Infosys (4.02%), Coal India (3.25%), Wipro (2.31%), Bharti Airtel (1.47%), and Cipla (1.04%) were the major gainers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,092 advances against 1,286 declines.
Tata Consultancy Services topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 2,629.56 million. It was followed by Graphite India (Rs. 414.08 million), Tata Steel (Rs. 274.39 million) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation (Rs. 268.27 million).
The volume chart was led by Gayatri Sugars with trades of over 5.38 million shares. It was followed by Jaiprakash Associates (4.11 million), Suzlon Energy (2.03 million) and Punjab National Bank (1.86 million).
