Sensex gains over 150 points; Nifty above 11,050-level

Indian equities continued to rise for the second day on Wednesday. At 9.24 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 157.83 points or 0.43% at 36,677.79 with 22 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 53.85 points or 0.49% at 11,061.90 with 34 components gaining.

Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.18%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.06%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.05%), and State Bank Of India (0.98%).

On the other hand, Hindustan Unilever (1.11%), Bharti Airtel (0.93%), Tata Motors (0.50%), ICICI Bank (0.36%), and Tata Steel (0.31%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was positive with 658 advances against 275 declines.

I C I C I Bank topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 184.34 million. It was followed by Ashok Leyland (Rs. 66.68 million), Federal Bank (Rs. 54.38 million) and Punjab National Bank (Rs. 48.55 million).

The volume chart was led by I C I C I Bank with trades of over 0.69 million shares. It was followed by Federal Bank (0.62 million), Punjab National Bank (0.60 million) and Reliance Communications (0.58 million).
