Indian markets continued to gain in late morning deals on Friday. At 10.59 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 192.41 points or 0.73% at 26,559.09 with 22 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 62.10 points or 0.77% at 8,131.75 with 39 components gaining.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (4.35%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (3.08%), ICICI Bank (2.58%), State Bank Of India (2.26%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (1.71%), and Reliance Industries (1.61%).
On the other hand, ITC (1.24%), NTPC (0.50%), Tata Motors (0.43%), Maruti Suzuki India (0.42%), Larsen & Toubro (0.38%), and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.37%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 1,237 advances against 641 declines.
Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 1,742.57 million. It was followed by Piramal Enterprises (Rs. 877.19 million), Bharat Petroleum Corporation (Rs. 336.91 million) and State Bank Of India (Rs. 285.85 million).
The volume chart was led by Suzlon Energy with trades of over 3.52 million shares. It was followed by Spicejet (2.87 million), Jaiprakash Associates (2.52 million) and Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company (1.96 million).
