Indian equities gained in early trade on Tuesday. At 9.25 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 59.54 points or 0.23% at 26,462.50 with 22 components gaining.  Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 13.95 points or 0.17% at 8,108.65 with 41 components gaining. 

Major gainers in the 30-share index were Bharti Airtel  (1.25%), Axis Bank  (1.07%), Hindustan Unilever  (0.95%), Bharat Heavy Electricals  (0.84%), Maruti Suzuki India  (0.82%),  and Coal India  (0.74%).

 On the other hand, Tata Motors  (1.59%), Wipro  (0.87%), Tata Steel  (0.68%), ICICI Bank  (0.54%), Infosys  (0.49%),  and Tata Consultancy Services  (0.31%) were the major losers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was positive with 982 advances against 235 declines.
