Sensex flat with positive bias; Nifty trades at 9,855

Indian equities continued to rally for the third day on Thursday. At 9.31 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 31.04 points or 0.10% at 31,599.05 with 18 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 3.30 points or 0.03% at 9,855.80 with 30 components gaining.

Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Power Company (1.71%), Infosys (1.40%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.01%), GAIL (India) (0.65%), Tata Motors (0.63%), and NTPC (0.62%).

On the other hand, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (0.70%), Bajaj Auto (0.70%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (0.65%), Maruti Suzuki India (0.64%), Hindustan Unilever (0.61%), and Wipro (0.31%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was positive with 788 advances against 424 declines.

Infosys topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 142.42 million. It was followed by Avenue Supermarts (Rs. 93.38 million), Jaypee Infratech (Rs. 50.16 million) and Fortis Healthcare (Rs. 45.27 million).

The volume chart was led by Jaypee Infratech with trades of over 3.56 million shares. It was followed by Jaiprakash Associates (0.94 million), Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar (0.70 million) and Unitech (0.33 million).
