Indian markets bounced back on Tuesday snapping earlier losses. At 9.17 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 30.96 points or 0.11% at 28,843.84 with 21 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 2.25 points or 0.03% at 8,898.95 with 33 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.13%), Tata Power Company (1.09%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (0.72%), Larsen & Toubro (0.50%), GAIL (India) (0.49%), and Tata Steel (0.48%).
On the other hand, Coal India (1.20%), ITC (0.68%), Hindustan Unilever (0.28%), HDFC Bank (0.20%), Bajaj Auto (0.17%), and Asian Paints (0.06%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 543 advances against 243 declines.
Idea Cellular topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 13,854.20 million. It was followed by The Byke Hospitality (Rs. 93.03 million), Lincoln Pharmaceuticals (Rs. 27.05 million) and Jindal Steel & Power (Rs. 23.31 million).
The volume chart was led by Idea Cellular with trades of over 126.29 million shares. It was followed by Speciality Papers (1.39 million), Visesh Infotecnics (1.10 million) and The Byke Hospitality (0.55 million).
