Indian equities gained on Thursday snapping earlier losses. At 9.32 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 16.46 points or 0.05% at 35,158.45 with 13 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 30.35 points or 0.29% at 10,606.65 with 18 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Hero Motocorp (1.60%), Wipro (1.32%), Infosys (1.07%), Tata Motors (0.96%), Larsen & Toubro (0.87%), and Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (0.73%).
On the other hand, Tata Power Company (1.67%), Mahindra & Mahindra (1.25%), Tata Steel (1.03%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.68%), ICICI Bank (0.60%), and Maruti Suzuki India (0.42%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 573 advances against 679 declines.
Mahindra & Mahindra topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 219.11 million. It was followed by Yes Bank (Rs. 201.63 million), InterGlobe Aviation (Rs. 111.98 million) and PC Jeweller (Rs. 99.78 million).
The volume chart was led by PC Jeweller with trades of over 1.29 million shares. It was followed by Yes Bank (0.96 million), Jaiprakash Associates (0.64 million) and Infibeam Avenues (0.62 million).
