Indian markets ended on a flat note on Friday. At the close, the 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex ended flat with a rise of 3.52 points or 0.01% at 25,606.62, 15 components posting rise. while the broad based NSE Nifty closed flat with a gain of 2.55 points or 0.03%, at 7,849.80.29 components posting rise.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Cipla (1.89%), HDFC Bank (1.69%), Tata Power Company (1.59%), Maruti Suzuki India (1.24%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.21%), and NTPC (1.13%).
On the other hand, Bharti Airtel (2.32%), State Bank Of India (1.67%), Reliance Industries (1.48%), ICICI Bank (1.48%), Hindustan Unilever (1.14%), and GAIL (India) (1.07%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,138 advances against 1,307 declines.
ICICI Bank topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 1,364.21 million. It was followed by Tata Consultancy Services (Rs. 899.48 million), HCL Technologies (Rs. 640.92 million) and State Bank Of India (Rs. 498.72 million).
The volume chart was led by Suzlon Energy with trades of over 13.72 million shares. It was followed by NHPC (7.26 million), Spicejet (6.56 million) and ICICI Bank (5.77 million).
