Indian markets settled higher on Tuesday. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex added 75.11 or 0.30% at 25,305.47 with 17 components registering rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty higher by 17.80 or 0.23% at 7,748.85 with 26 components registering drop.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were NTPC (2.03%), ICICI Bank (1.74%), Tata Motors (1.63%), Tata Power Company (1.41%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.33%), and Tata Steel (1.28%).
On the other hand, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.47%), Bajaj Auto (1.43%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.97%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (0.84%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.79%), and Cipla (0.50%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 893 advances against 1,582 declines.
United Breweries topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 706.95 million. It was followed by Spicejet (Rs. 571.69 million), Lupin (Rs. 493.33 million) and Reliance Industries (Rs. 179.09 million).
The volume chart was led by Spicejet with trades of over 8.31 million shares. It was followed by Subex (4.35 million), Reliance Communications (3.65 million) and Himadri Chemicals & Industries (1.09 million).
