Indian equities ended lower on Wednesday. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex declined 59.24 or 0.21% at 28,005.37 with 13 components posting drop. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty declined by 18.50 or 0.21% at 8,624.05.
Biggest losers in the 30-share index were Tata Consultancy Services (2.51%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (2.34%), Infosys (1.67%), Asian Paints (1.41%), Wipro (1.40%), and Reliance Industries (1.00%).
On the other hand, Tata Steel (3.20%), Coal India (2.90%), Bajaj Auto (1.99%), Hero Motocorp (1.98%), Tata Power Company (1.44%), and Axis Bank (1.14%) were the major gainers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,403 advances against 1,214 declines.
B F Utilities topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 829.84 million. It was followed by State Bank Of India (Rs. 485.32 million), Reliance Industries (Rs. 460.06 million) and L&T Finance Holdings (Rs. 238.44 million).
The volume chart was led by Shrenuj & Company with trades of over 3.82 million shares. It was followed by L&T Finance Holdings (2.56 million), Spicejet (2.54 million) and Supreme Tex Mart (2.28 million).
