Indian equities ended lower on Thursday erasing earlier gains.Both Sensex and Nifty traded below 1-month low. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex declined 465.28 or 1.64% at 27,827.53 with 30 components posting drop. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty fell by 153.90 or 1.76% at 8,591.25 with 52 components registering drop.
All shares in the Sensex settled with a negative note. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (4.23%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (3.84%), ICICI Bank (3.76%), GAIL (India) (3.19%), and Tata Power Company (3.16%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 461 advances against 2,187 declines.
ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 3,784.28 million. It was followed by Force Motors (Rs. 2,450.46 million), Multi Commodity Exchange of India (Rs. 1,160.32 million) and I C I C I Bank (Rs. 1,021.73 million).
The volume chart was led by Allied Computers International (Asia) with trades of over 27.87 million shares. It was followed by ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company (12.71 million), Suzlon Energy (8.63 million) and IDFC Bank (5.91 million).
