Indian markets ended higher on Thursday snapping earlier losses. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex added 448.39 or 1.48% at 30,750.03 with 24 components posting rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty climbed by 149.20 or 1.59% at 9,509.75 with 39 components posting rise.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Larsen & Toubro (4.97%), ICICI Bank (3.06%), HDFC Bank (3.04%), Infosys (2.97%), Tata Consultancy Services (2.43%), and State Bank Of India (2.42%).
On the other hand, Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (3.70%), Cipla (3.12%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.87%), Bharti Airtel (0.39%), and ITC (0.08%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 1,751 advances against 789 declines.
Ambuja Cements topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 1,687.17 million. It was followed by Sintex Industries (Rs. 1,043.67 million), Tata Consultancy Services (Rs. 1,035.95 million) and Bharat Heavy Electricals (Rs. 660.51 million).
The volume chart was led by Sintex Industries with trades of over 40.45 million shares. It was followed by Jaiprakash Associates (13.00 million), Suzlon Energy (10.38 million) and Ambuja Cements (7.04 million).
