Indian markets ended higher on Monday. Both Sensex and Nifty traded at a new life time high. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex added 330.87 or 0.87% at 38,278.75 with 21 components posting rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty went up by 81.00 or 0.71% at 11,551.75 with 33 components registering rise.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Larsen & Toubro (6.74%), Tata Motors (4.74%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (3.34%), Tata Steel (3.24%), Bajaj Auto (2.75%), and Reliance Industries (2.61%).
On the other hand, Infosys (3.22%), Maruti Suzuki India (0.79%), Cipla (0.78%), ICICI Bank (0.50%), Axis Bank (0.46%), and Hindustan Unilever (0.30%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,360 advances against 1,130 declines.
Larsen & Toubro topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 1,443.29 million. It was followed by Tata Motors (Rs. 481.65 million), Adani Enterprises (Rs. 387.67 million) and R*Shares Liquid BeES (Rs. 347.52 million).
The volume chart was led by Birla Power Solutions with trades of over 12.09 million shares. It was followed by Sam Leaseco (4.22 million), Bellary Steels & Alloys (2.03 million) and Adani Enterprises (1.83 million).
