Sensex ends 30 points higher; Nifty settles at 9,428

Indian markets ended flat on Friday snapping earlier losses. At the close, the 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex ended flat with a rise of 30.13 points or 0.10% at 30,464.92, 14 components posting rise. while the broad based NSE Nifty closed flat with a decline of 1.55 points or 0.02%, at 9,427.90 with 33 components posting drop.

Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were ITC (2.82%), Hindustan Unilever (2.04%), Axis Bank (1.83%), State Bank Of India (1.72%), Tata Motors (1.08%), and Cipla (0.86%).

On the other hand, Asian Paints (2.43%), GAIL (India) (1.48%), Mahindra & Mahindra (1.35%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.16%), Tata Consultancy Services (1.08%), and Hero Motocorp (0.96%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was negative with 940 advances against 1,683 declines.

Housing and Urban Development Corporation topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 2,196.63 million. It was followed by State Bank Of India (Rs. 1,479.63 million), Bharat Financial Inclusion (Rs. 923.83 million) and Suzlon Energy (Rs. 513.82 million).

The volume chart was led by Housing and Urban Development Corporation with trades of over 30.30 million shares. It was followed by Suzlon Energy (25.00 million), State Bank Of India (4.80 million) and Jaiprakash Associates (3.94 million).
