Indian markets ended higher for the second day on Monday. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex added 292.10 or 1.05% at 28,095.34 with 23 components registering rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty climbed by 94.45 or 1.11% at 8,635.65 with 40 components registering rise.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Bharat Heavy Electricals (4.29%), Maruti Suzuki India (3.11%), State Bank Of India (2.86%), Asian Paints (2.25%), ICICI Bank (2.12%), and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.91%).
On the other hand, Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (3.62%), GAIL (India) (1.04%), Bajaj Auto (0.76%), Tata Steel (0.41%), and Tata Power Company (0.14%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.Market breadth was positive with 1,667 advances against 987 declines.
Vedanta topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 895.99 million. It was followed by State Bank Of India (Rs. 662.98 million), Cairn India (Rs. 488.99 million) and KNR Constructions (Rs. 464.74 million).
The volume chart was led by Unitech with trades of over 15.63 million shares. It was followed by Vedanta (5.21 million), Electrosteel Steels (4.03 million) and State Bank Of India (2.88 million).
