Indian markets ended higher on Friday. Both Sensex and Nifty traded above 1-month high. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex added 196.62 or 0.56% at 35,457.16 with 16 components posting rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty climbed by 65.50 or 0.62% at 10,682.20 with 26 components registering rise.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Bharti Airtel (9.81%), Reliance Industries (2.79%), Cipla (2.29%), Hero Motocorp (1.81%), State Bank Of India (1.75%), and Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.67%).
On the other hand, Tata Steel (2.47%), Maruti Suzuki India (2.02%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.48%), Axis Bank (1.41%), Infosys (0.90%), and I C I C I Bank (0.70%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,010 advances against 1,355 declines.
Jet Airways (India) topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 3,580.95 million. It was followed by Yes Bank (Rs. 1,453.37 million), Reliance Industries (Rs. 792.57 million) and Bharti Airtel (Rs. 635.05 million).
The volume chart was led by Southern Ispat and Energy with trades of over 55.24 million shares. It was followed by Jet Airways (India) (10.32 million), Yes Bank (7.60 million) and Jaiprakash Associates (4.08 million).
