Indian markets ended higher on Tuesday. Both Sensex and Nifty traded above 2-month high. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex gained 165.87 or 0.48% at 34,616.64 with 18 components registering rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty went up by 29.65 or 0.28% at 10,614.35 with 23 components registering rise.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Reliance Industries (3.70%), Mahindra & Mahindra (1.94%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.74%), ICICI Bank (1.66%), HDFC (1.31%) and Larsen & Toubro (1.25%).
On the other hand, Wipro (3.30%), Infosys (2.49%), Tata Steel (1.23%), State Bank Of India (0.87%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.87%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (0.73%), and were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,080 advances against 1,341 declines.
Yes Bank topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 770.98 million. It was followed by Tata Consultancy Services (Rs. 660.72 million), Sundaram Finance (Rs. 575.81 million) and ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company (Rs. 574.22 million).
The volume chart was led by Cerebra Integrated Technologies with trades of over 4.77 million shares. It was followed by National Aluminium Company (2.94 million), Yes Bank (2.38 million) and RMG Alloy Steel (2.26 million).
