Indian markets bounced back on Wednesday snapping earlier losses. Both Sensex and Nifty traded at a new life time high. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex gained 154.19 or 0.48% at 32,382.46 with 21 components registering rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty went up by 56.10 or 0.56% at 10,020.65 with 28 components registering rise.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Steel (2.22%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (2.08%), ICICI Bank (2.07%), Mahindra & Mahindra (1.94%), Cipla (1.82%), and Hindustan Unilever (1.79%).
On the other hand, Axis Bank (2.90%), Asian Paints (1.43%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (1.03%), Tata Power Company (0.72%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.44%), and Bharti Airtel (0.32%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,289 advances against 1,227 declines.
Reliance Industries topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 1,206.77 million. It was followed by Federal Bank (Rs. 781.72 million), Jaiprakash Associates (Rs. 761.17 million) and Vedanta (Rs. 373.95 million).
The volume chart was led by Southern Ispat and Energy with trades of over 55.24 million shares. It was followed by Jaiprakash Associates (26.29 million), Lanco Infratech (21.68 million) and Unitech (13.17 million).
