Sensex ends 145 points higher; Nifty settles at 11,010-level

Indian markets bounced back on Friday snapping earlier losses. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex gained 145.14 or 0.40% at 36,496.37 with 20 components posting rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty went up by 53.10 or 0.48% at 11,010.20 with 34 components posting rise.

Major gainers in the 30-share index were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (2.72%), Infosys (2.42%), Reliance Industries (2.23%), I C I C I Bank (1.84%), and Axis Bank (1.36%).

On the other hand, Bajaj Auto (8.73%), Hero Motocorp (2.22%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (2.20%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (1.24%), Tata Power Company (0.80%), and Wipro (0.77%) were the major losers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was negative with 1,041 advances against 1,276 declines.

Dr Reddy'S Laboratories topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 576.14 million. It was followed by R*Shares Liquid BeES (Rs. 512.18 million), Ceat (Rs. 379.77 million) and Reliance Capital (Rs. 128.11 million).

The volume chart was led by Suzlon Energy with trades of over 1.50 million shares. It was followed by NCC (1.41 million), Punjab National Bank (1.12 million) and Spicejet (1.11 million).
