Indian equities ended lower on Friday. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex lost 111.34 or 0.37% at 29,918.40 with 14 components registering drop. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty fell by 38.10 or 0.41% at 9,304.05 with 24 components posting drop.
Major losers in the 30-share index were ITC (2.28%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.93%), HDFC Bank (1.60%), Tata Consultancy Services (1.27%), Hindustan Unilever (1.23%), and Bharti Airtel (1.10%).
On the other hand, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (3.76%), State Bank Of India (2.66%), Maruti Suzuki India (2.42%), ICICI Bank (1.62%), Asian Paints (1.62%), and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.25%) were the biggest gainers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,326 advances against 1,369 declines.
Federal Bank topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 776.72 million. It was followed by Indiabulls Real Estate (Rs. 597.72 million), Maruti Suzuki India (Rs. 565.60 million) and RShares Liquid BeES (Rs. 533.99 million).
The volume chart was led by Federal Bank with trades of over 7.23 million shares. It was followed by Spicejet (4.94 million), Suzlon Energy (4.75 million) and Indiabulls Real Estate (3.99 million).
