India`s largest engineering and construction conglomerate, L&T has secured major orders aggregating to Rs 13.72 billion from various customers like Vedanta Aluminium, Utkal Alumina International and Bhushan Steel.
The company has secured an order valued at Rs 5.16 billion from Vedanta Aluminium for setting up of a 3 million tons per annum (MTPA) alumina refinery at its Lanjigarh plant in Orissa. The scope involves civil, structural, tanks, equipment erection, piping and commissioning assistance for the alumina refinery. The project is to be executed in 20 months.
The company has also secured order valued at Rs 4.55 billion from Utkal Alumina International for setting up of 1.5 MTPA green alumina refinery at Doraguda near Rayagada in Orissa. The scope involves civil, piling structural and tanks for the alumina refinery. The project is to be executed in 24 months.
The third order valued at Rs 4.01 billion has been received from Bhushan Steel for civil, structural, equipment erection and piping for its phase III expansion at Angul in Orissa which includes setting up a steel melt shop and cake oven. The company is already executing the orders of a 3,800 cubic meters blast furnace and 2*204 square meter sinter plants for Bhushan Steel for phase III.
These orders from major producers in ferrous & non ferrous sector in the metallurgical field, portray the enormous confidence the industry has in L&T`s expertise in engineering, construction and project management.
Shares of L&T gained Rs 7.05, or 0.86%, to trade at Rs 827. The total volume of shares traded was 164,830 at the BSE (10.13 a.m., Tuesday).
