Indian equities slipped into the negative after trading in the green zone in the post noon deals on Monday dragged by metals, banks, power and financials stocks while FMCG and IT stocks managed to trade in the positive.
BSE Midcap and Smallcap index were trading down 0.50% and 0.48% respectively.
At 12.50 p.m., the Sensex was trading down 119.60 points or 0.20% at 58,896.29 with 12 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 64.25 points or 0.37% at 17,520.90 with 23 components falling.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Hindustan Unilever (2.49%), Bajaj Finserv (2.49%), ITC (2.12%), Bajaj Finance (1.41%), HCL Technologies (1.32%), Nestle (0.60%) and Reliance Industries (0.51%).
On the other hand, Tata Steel (6.22%), HDFC (2.27%), State Bank of India (2.03%), IndusInd Bank (1.11%), Dr Reddy's (1.01%), Bajaj Auto (0.95%), Titan (0.93%) and Power Grid Corporation Of India (0.87%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,314 advances against 1,912 declines.
