Indian markets continued its record-breaking spree for the second day on Thursday led by banks, financials and FMCG stocks. Both Sensex and Nifty were trading at a new life time high.
At 15.02., the Sensex was trading up 460.28 points or 0.78% at 59,183.48 with 19 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 118.90 points or 0.68% at 17,638.35 with 31 components gaining.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 157.84 points or 0.27% at 58,881.04, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a rise of 19.75 points or 0.11%, at 17,539.20.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were IndusInd Bank (7.42%), ITC (6.94%), State Bank of India (3.99%), Reliance Industries (2.22%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (1.83%), ICICI Bank (1.68%), Axis Bank (1.25%) and Power Grid Corporation Of India (1.07%).
On the other hand, TCS (1.28%), Tata Steel (1.19%), Tech Mahindra (0.99%), Bharti Airtel (0.85%), UltraTech Cement (0.73%), HCL Technologies (0.72%), Dr Reddy's (0.60%) and Bajaj Finserv (0.54%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 1,663 advances against 1,605 declines.
