Indian markets continued to gain for the second day on Monday led by heavyweights ONGC and Reliance Industries. Moreover, IT and pharma stocks also lifted the market sentiment. The broad based Nifty traded near life time high.
At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex gained 194.90 points or 0.44% at 44,077.15 with 21 components registering rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty climbed by 67.40 points or 0.52% at 12,926.45 with 35 components registering rise.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (6.84%), Indusind Bank (4.79%), Infosys (3.37%), Tech Mahindra (3.33%), Bajaj Finserv (2.78%), Reliance Industries (2.72%), and HCL Technologies (2.45%).
On the other hand, Housing Development Finance Corporation (3.55%), ICICI Bank (2.48%), Axis Bank (1.99%), State Bank Of India (1.69%), Mahindra & Mahindra (1.50%), Titan (1.37%) and Bharti Airtel (1.33%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,688 advances against 1,144 declines.
