Indian markets continued to rally for the second day on Monday let by banking stocks. Moreover, broader markets outperformed the benchmark indices.
At 1.06 p.m., the Sensex was trading up 142.41 points or 0.32% at 44,024.66 with 18 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 58.45 points or 0.45% at 12,917.50 with 31 components gaining.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Indusind Bank (4.81%), Reliance Industries (3.32%), Tech Mahindra (3.03%), ONGC (3%), Infosys (2.58%), Bajaj Finserv (2.50%) and Sun Pharma (2.39%).
On the other hand, Housing Development Finance Corporation (3.67%), Mahindra & Mahindra (1.90%), ICICI Bank (1.65%), Titan (1.62%), Bharti Airtel (1.13%), State Bank Of India (0.93%), Axis Bank (0.81%) and HDFC Bank (0.70%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,565 advances against 1,103 declines.
In the broader markets, the S&P BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices were trading higher 0.96% and 1.18% respectively.
