Indian markets continued to fall for the fourth day on Wednesday. The Sensex was trading down 279.04 points or 0.69% at 40,002.16 with 23 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 88.20 points or 0.75% at 11,709.70.90 with 38 components falling.
Tata Power Company (4.06%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (3.11%), Tata Motors (3.04%), Indusind Bank (1.86%), Bharti Airtel (1.78%), and Maruti Suzuki India (1.74%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
On the other hand, major gainers in the 30-share index were Yes Bank (2.56%), Hindustan Unilever (0.68%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.62%), Asian Paints (0.39%), Power Grid Corporation Of India (0.35%), and NTPC (0.14%).
Market breadth was negative with 635 advances against 1,120 declines.
Intense Technologies topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 8.24 million. It was followed by G N A Axles (Rs. 1.14 million), Ishaan Infrastructures and Shelters (Rs. 1.04 million) and Oriental Aromatics (Rs. 1.01 million).
The volume chart was led by Intense Technologies with trades of over 0.44 million shares. It was followed by Jaiprakash Associates (0.23 million), RattanIndia Power (0.14 million) and Ishaan Infrastructures and Shelters (0.05 million).
