Indian markets dropped on Friday erasing earlier gains.The broad based Nifty traded above 1-month high. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex lost 53.99 or 0.15% at 36,671.43 with 20 components posting drop. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty declined by 22.80 or 0.21% at 11,035.40.
Biggest losers in the 30-share index were Tata Motors (3.99%), Tata Steel (2.43%), Infosys (1.48%), and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.38%).
On the other hand, NTPC (4.28%), Bajaj Auto (1.38%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.92%), ITC (0.69%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.54%), and Hero Motocorp (0.52%) were the biggest gainers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,091 advances against 1,263 declines.
Axis Bank topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 425.88 million. It was followed by Zee Entertainment Enterprises (Rs. 177.48 million), Jai Corp (Rs. 136.98 million) and ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company (Rs. 103.79 million).
The volume chart was led by Reliance Energy Ventures with trades of over 2.39 million shares. It was followed by Kingfisher Airlines (1.91 million), Vodafone Idea (1.47 million) and Jai Corp (1.27 million).
