Indian equities continued to rise for the second day on Tuesday. At 11.48 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 72.63 points or 0.20% at 36,136.44 with 16 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 32.40 points or 0.33% at 10,895.90 with 18 components falling.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Motors (7.88%), Hero Motocorp (3.02%), Tata Power Company (2.76%), Coal India (2.45%), NTPC (2.17%), and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (2.11%).
On the other hand, Wipro (1.53%), Larsen & Toubro (1.31%), Infosys (0.83%), Hindustan Unilever (0.77%), Cipla (0.59%), and H D F C Bank (0.51%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 1,598 advances against 429 declines.
Bajaj Finserv topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 1,985.98 million. It was followed by Tata Motors (Rs. 590.34 million), Bharti Airtel (Rs. 477.78 million) and Yes Bank (Rs. 361.41 million).
The volume chart was led by Reliance Power with trades of over 16.24 million shares. It was followed by Suzlon Energy (13.02 million), Jaiprakash Associates (6.80 million) and Vakrangee (3.96 million).
