Indian equities continued to fall for the second day on Friday. At 9.40 a.m, the Sensex was trading down 409.01 points or 1.18% at 34,370.57 with 23 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 122.45 points or 1.17% at 10,330.60 with 37 components falling.
Biggest losers in the 30-share index were Reliance Industries (5.36%), Infosys (2.98%), Hero Motocorp (2.22%), Mahindra & Mahindra (1.87%), Tata Consultancy Services (1.83%), and Larsen & Toubro (1.42%).
On the other hand, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.16%), Asian Paints (0.98%), NTPC (0.65%), Tata Steel (0.32%), ICICI Bank (0.21%), and ITC (0.19%) were the major gainers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 466 advances against 852 declines.
Sudarshan Chemical Industries topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 2,298.70 million. It was followed by Reliance Industries (Rs. 569.60 million), Cipla (Rs. 260.79 million) and Indiabulls Housing Finance (Rs. 245.65 million).
The volume chart was led by Sudarshan Chemical Industries with trades of over 5.63 million shares. It was followed by SBI SDFS - 90 Days - 60 - Dividend (3.79 million), Jaiprakash Associates (1.42 million) and Hathway Cable and Datacom (1.14 million).
