Indian markets ended higher on Monday snapping earlier losses. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex gained 97.39 or 0.28% at 34,474.38 with 13 components registering rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty went up by 31.60 or 0.31% at 10,348.05 with 19 components posting rise.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Reliance Industries (5.53%), Hero Motocorp (5.14%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (4.62%), State Bank Of India (3.18%), Asian Paints (2.99%), and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.94%).
On the other hand, Housing Development Finance Corporation (2.62%), Tata Power Company (2.22%), Wipro (2.14%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (2.14%), Axis Bank (2.10%), and Tata Motors (1.75%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 706 advances against 1,707 declines.
Reliance Industries topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 1,474.28 million. It was followed by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (Rs. 724.19 million), H D F C Bank (Rs. 713.71 million) and Maruti Suzuki India (Rs. 681.56 million).
The volume chart was led by Birla Power Solutions with trades of over 12.09 million shares. It was followed by Sam Leaseco (4.22 million), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (4.06 million) and L&T Finance Holdings (3.23 million).
