Sensex falls over 150 points; Nifty below 10,550

Indian markets continued to drop for the third day on Friday. Both Sensex and Nifty were trading below 4-month low. At 9.29 a.m, the Sensex was trading down 151.43 points or 0.43% at 35,017.73 with 19 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 76.90 points or 0.73% at 10,522.35 with 27 components falling.

Biggest losers in the 30-share index were Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (11.56%), Bajaj Auto (3.15%), Hindustan Unilever (1.93%), ITC (1.43%), Reliance Industries (1.19%), and Hero Motocorp (1.16%).

On the other hand, Infosys (1.70%), Bharti Airtel (1.34%), Tata Motors (1.05%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.93%), Cipla (0.89%), and Power Grid Corporation Of India (0.53%) were the major gainers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was negative with 672 advances against 567 declines.

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 413.55 million. It was followed by Hindustan Unilever (Rs. 265.66 million), Bharat Petroleum Corporation (Rs. 245.22 million) and Indian Oil Corporation (Rs. 243.12 million).

The volume chart was led by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation with trades of over 2.39 million shares. It was followed by Indian Oil Corporation (2.06 million), Bharat Petroleum Corporation (0.93 million) and Kwality (0.81 million).
