Indian markets continued to fall for the second day on Monday. At 9.19 a.m, the Sensex was trading down 258.63 points or 0.68% at 37,610.60 with 21 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 59.90 points or 0.52% at 11,369.60 with 42 components falling.
Major losers in the 30-share index were State Bank Of India (3.30%), Tata Motors (2.30%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.45%), Bharti Airtel (1.26%), HDFC Bank (1.11%), and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.09%).
On the other hand, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.85%), Wipro (0.70%), Coal India (0.65%), Cipla (0.47%), and Infosys (0.44%) were the biggest gainers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 321 advances against 783 declines.
Bharti Infratel topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 285.88 million. It was followed by Nestle India (Rs. 123.93 million), State Bank Of India (Rs. 55.56 million) and Vakrangee (Rs. 43.92 million).
The volume chart was led by Bharti Infratel with trades of over 1.00 million shares. It was followed by Vakrangee (0.78 million), Reliance Communications (0.73 million) and Kwality (0.41 million).
