Indian markets bounced back on Wednesday snapping earlier losses. At 9.30 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 23.18 points or 0.06% at 37,688.98 with 17 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 5.75 points or 0.05% at 11,395.20 with 25 components gaining.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Bharti Airtel (0.93%), Coal India (0.89%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.72%), Tata Steel (0.59%), Asian Paints (0.55%), and Reliance Industries (0.54%).
On the other hand, ICICI Bank (0.77%), Infosys (0.76%), Tata Power Company (0.43%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (0.40%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (0.38%), and Hindustan Unilever (0.31%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 775 advances against 535 declines.
I T C topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 120.97 million. It was followed by Tata Steel (Rs. 57.03 million), Hindalco Industries (Rs. 41.70 million) and Reliance Industries (Rs. 39.14 million).
The volume chart was led by I T C with trades of over 0.40 million shares. It was followed by Assam Company India (0.31 million), Spicejet (0.25 million) and Morepen Laboratories (0.22 million).
