Indian equities continued to gain for the third day on Tuesday. Both Sensex and Nifty were trading at a new life time high. At 9.26 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 55.11 points or 0.15% at 37,747 with 21 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 13.60 points or 0.12% at 11,400.70 with 34 components gaining.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Coal India (1.20%), Asian Paints (1.13%), Mahindra & Mahindra (1.07%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.93%), and Tata Steel (0.81%).
On the other hand, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.99%), ICICI Bank (0.98%), Bharti Airtel (0.88%), Axis Bank (0.71%), Power Grid Corporation Of India (0.71%), and Cipla (0.52%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 826 advances against 395 declines.
HDFC Asset Management Company topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 129.54 million. It was followed by Vakrangee (Rs. 99.02 million), Delta Corp (Rs. 58.26 million) and Graphite India (Rs. 54.27 million).
The volume chart was led by Vakrangee with trades of over 1.61 million shares. It was followed by Reliance Communications (1.61 million), Adani Power (1.49 million) and Jaiprakash Power Ventures (0.93 million).
