Indian markets ended higher on Monday. Both Sensex and Nifty traded at a new life time high. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex added 135.73 or 0.36% at 37,691.89 with 14 components posting rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty climbed by 26.30 or 0.23% at 11,387.10 with 25 components registering rise.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Axis Bank (3.86%), ICICI Bank (3.36%), State Bank Of India (3.33%), Bharti Airtel (3.07%), Hero Motocorp (1.72%), and Coal India (1.56%).
On the other hand, Kotak Mahindra Bank (1.70%), Hindustan Unilever (1.65%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.58%), Tata Motors (1.57%), and Asian Paints (1.03%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,444 advances against 1,028 declines.
HDFC Asset Management Company topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 5,585.05 million. It was followed by Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail (Rs. 288.14 million), I T C (Rs. 236.85 million) and Tata Consultancy Services (Rs. 218.70 million).
The volume chart was led by Birla Power Solutions with trades of over 12.09 million shares. It was followed by Jaiprakash Power Ventures (11.71 million), Sam Leaseco (4.22 million) and HDFC Asset Management Company (3.08 million).
