Indian equities bounced back on Friday snapping earlier losses. At 9.26 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 208.50 points or 0.56% at 37,373.66 with 26 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 67.80 points or 0.60% at 11,312.50 with 40 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.48%), Axis Bank (1.15%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.08%), Reliance Industries (1.08%), and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.07%).
On the other hand, Hero Motocorp (0.18%), Wipro (0.16%), ITC (0.05%), and Asian Paints (0.03%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 928 advances against 239 declines.
Tejas Networks topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 1,645.03 million. It was followed by R*Shares Liquid BeES (Rs. 92.76 million), Venky's (India) (Rs. 92.12 million) and Jet Airways (India) (Rs. 72.03 million).
The volume chart was led by Tejas Networks with trades of over 6.26 million shares. It was followed by G M R Infrastructure (0.47 million), Reliance Communications (0.44 million) and Assam Company India (0.37 million).
