Indian markets continued to rally for the eighth day on Wednesday. Both Sensex and Nifty were trading at a new life time high. At 9.38 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 45.93 points or 0.12% at 37,652.51 with 18 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 22.35 points or 0.20% at 11,378.85 with 33 components gaining.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Bajaj Auto (1.70%), Tata Consultancy Services (1.38%), Bharti Airtel (1.18%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (1.03%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (1.00%), and Mahindra & Mahindra (0.91%).
On the other hand, Tata Motors (2.71%), NTPC (1.26%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (0.66%), HDFC Bank (0.65%), and Wipro (0.60%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 938 advances against 401 declines.
Housing Development Finance Corporation topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 452.69 million. It was followed by Tata Motors (Rs. 165.36 million), Reliance Industries (Rs. 108.86 million) and Bajaj Auto (Rs. 96.52 million).
The volume chart was led by Reliance Communications with trades of over 3.74 million shares. It was followed by Alok Industries (2.66 million), Adani Power (1.49 million) and Housing Development and Infrastructure (1.03 million).
