Indian markets continued to rally for the eighth day on Wednesday. Both Sensex and Nifty were trading above 1-month high. At 9.42 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 14.26 points or 0.04% at 34,409.32 with 17 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 8.25 points or 0.08% at 10,556.95 with 24 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Wipro (1.72%), ITC (0.84%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.60%), Bharti Airtel (0.56%), and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.55%).
On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra (0.93%), Infosys (0.67%), Axis Bank (0.67%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (0.44%), Larsen & Toubro (0.39%), and Hero Motocorp (0.26%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 895 advances against 573 declines.
Dewan Housing Finance Corporation topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 88.68 million. It was followed by Titan Company (Rs. 48.56 million), Vedanta (Rs. 44.07 million) and Hindustan Unilever (Rs. 40.35 million).
The volume chart was led by Sanwaria Consumer with trades of over 0.82 million shares. It was followed by Confidence Petroleum India (0.37 million), Vakrangee (0.33 million) and IDBI Bank (0.26 million).
