Indian equities ended higher on Tuesday. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex gained 91.71 or 0.27% at 33,880.25 with 16 components registering rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty went up by 22.90 or 0.22% at 10,402.25 with 26 components posting rise.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Axis Bank (5.43%), ICICI Bank (2.78%), Adani Ports And Special Economic Zone (2.75%), Tata Steel (2.58%) and Coal India (2.20%).
On the other hand, Tata Motors (1.37%), Mahindra & Mahindra (1.02%), Hero Motocorp (1.01%) and HDFC Bank (1%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,401 advances against 1,056 declines.
State Bank Of India topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 1,119.22 million. It was followed by Vedanta (Rs. 728.23 million), Axis Bank (Rs. 653.37 million) and Hindalco Industries (Rs. 524.43 million).
The volume chart was led by Aplaya Creations with trades of over 4.85 million shares. It was followed by State Bank Of India (4.25 million), Unitech (4.18 million) and Vedanta (2.56 million).
