Indian markets ended flat on Friday. At the close, the 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex ended flat with a rise of 30.17 points or 0.09% at 33,626.97, 16 components registering rise. while the broad based NSE Nifty closed flat with a gain of 10,331.60.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were ICICI Bank (0.97%), Tata Steel (0.92%), Maruti Suzuki India (0.88%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (0.81%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.80%), and Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (0.69%).
On the other hand, Bharti Airtel (2.17%), Larsen & Toubro (1.31%), Infosys (1.31%), Bajaj Auto (0.98%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.87%), and Hindustan Unilever (0.49%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,474 advances against 964 declines.
Magma Fincorp topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 5,805.15 million. It was followed by A I A Engineering (Rs. 4,391.75 million), Grasim Industries (Rs. 1,229.43 million) and Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (Rs. 1,081.14 million).
The volume chart was led by HDFC FMP - 1132 D - February 2016 (1) - Series 35 - Direct Plan - Growth with trades of over 100.00 million shares. It was followed by Magma Fincorp (35.63 million), Kotak FMP Series 131 - Regular Plan - Growth (15.00 million) and Reliance Communications (14.97 million).
